ABOUT SARA

Where you are is not who you are.

And the nervous system that learned to survive can learn to thrive.

Hi, I'm Sara Nicoletti, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Trauma Specialist, Clinical Supervisor, Brainspotting Consultant, retreat leader, and founder of East Bay Integrative Marriage & Family Group. With over two decades of experience as a mental health practitioner, I can sincerely say I love my work as a Somatic Psychotherapist.

Echoing wisdom traditions across the world, I believe our inner journey and our shared humanity are deeply, inseparably intertwined, and healing ourselves is part of how we heal the collective whole. I hold this work as sacred and believe it is one of the central reasons we're here, in this body, in this lifetime.

My clients are often fellow therapists, healers and coaches, business executives leading large teams, overachievers who never feel they are enough, creatives, parents seeking to better balance their inner and outer world so they can show up the in the best way for their family and life, millennials navigating life's curveballs, and people with big dreams who are ready to work through the subtle, nuanced (or sometimes deafening) things holding them back.

I specialize in complex trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, creative blocks, health challenges, and the sometimes complex terrain of fertility, birth, loss, postpartum, and parenting.

Some of my most beloved trainings span Attachment Based EMDR, Brainspotting, Emotional Transformation Therapy, PACT, mindful co-regulation for couples, Hakomi, and clinical herbalism, Reiki and Kripalu Bodywork.

I believe healing is a whole-body, whole-life journey.

Earlier on my path, I worked as a Certified Montessori teacher, with children from early elementary through middle school, while also supporting autistic children through one-on-one tutoring. Curious about family systems, inter-generational patterns, and going deeper into the psychosocial-emotional construct led me to my master’s in clinical psychology at New College in 2002.

Once graduated, I worked for Alameda County with both young children, and severely emotionally disturbed & severely mentally ill young adults and their families. Through this work, I gained a deep understanding of extreme trauma, inter-generational struggle, poverty, abuse, addiction, homicidal and suicidal ideation, and severe mental illness. As a result, I became dedicated to better understanding the neuroscience of trauma and developing a strong skill set to support my clients with releasing discord from their nervous systems to improve their life in a sustainable way.

Outside the therapy room, you'll find me seeking out wild places, tending to my herbalism studies, cozying up on my back porch over looking the bay, dancing to soul-stirring music, cooking nourishing food for the people I love, and finding the kind of beauty that cracks you open and leaves you more alive than before.

Community, spirit, creativity, and adventure are my anchors, alongside my partner, three teens, and one very beloved dog who reminds us all to stay present, and walk and hike in nature every day.
